- If there is an injury, seek medical attention (e.g. first aider). If serious call 999 and give precise location.
- If a vehicle is involved, don't have a discussion with the driver about who was at fault.
- Exchange contact details (name; address; email; phone no.).
- Obtain contact details of any witnesses.
- Note the registration number/make/model of the vehicle.
- If there has been an injury and/or significant damage to property, report it to the police. If the police attend, note officer name and serial number.
- Take photos of: position of bike(s) and vehicle(s); damage to bike(s)/vehicle(s); any injuries incurred by rider(s) or driver(s). Keep any helmet-cam footage.
- Inform injured rider to contact Cycling UK incident line: 0330 107 1789
As soon as practicable afterwards:
- Report the accident to the club secretary, secretary@ctccambridge.org.uk, and safeguarding officer, safeguarding@ctccambridge.org.uk.
- If you are unsure about whether to complete a Cycling UK Accident/incident report form, discuss with the club secretary and safeguarding officer before submitting.
- After submitting the form to Cycling UK, email a copy to the club secretary and safeguarding officer.
